Blankets®are
a photo selective
polyethylene film that blocks the blue/green portions of the light spectrum
that enable photosynthesis. This starves competing vegetation and none
will survive under the mulch. Brush Blankets® transfer the
heat generated from sunlight to the soil instead of absorbing it into
the mulch. This not only prevents heat damage to the root collar in the
contact area with the mulch, it also maintains the soil temperature in
the optimum range for seedling growth. Brush Blankets® are micro-perforated to allow the transfer of water and air that are critical to tree survival and growth. The correct placement of the mulch can create an idealized local environment by channeling rain water towards the tree. Brush Blankets® also retain soil moisture, retarding evaporation by up to 85%.
