Eroca
Dancer's CD,
"Once in a Lifetime"
heralds the arrival of one of Canada's promising new
adult-contemporary singers. The eight-song disc, recorded 'mostly
live' at Studio 56 in Langley, BC Canada, is a dynamic,
refreshing collection of easy listening melodies and sensitive
lyrics that effortlessly blurs the lines between jazz, blues
and pop.
Accompaning Dancer in superb form are four veterans of the award-winning
jazz-fusion group, Skywalk: reedman and flutest Tom
Keenlyside, bass player Rene
Worst, keyboardist Miles
Black and drummer Daryl
Bennett. Rounding out the ensemble on guitar and
synthesizer is Don
Thompson, who also produced, arranged, mixed and
engineered the album, in addition to writing or collaborating
with Dancer on four of the disc's seven original songs.
Over the years, Dancer has developed her skills as a professional
singer, songwriter, and actor, performing in both theatre and
film, as well as festivals, clubs, pubs and coffee houses throughout
the Pacific Northwest. She recorded her first album - a collection
of original children's songs in 1988. Her repertoire continues
to grow, encompassing everything from folk, gospel and country
to pop, blues and jazz.
Eroca seems to truly hit her stride with the powerful writing
and richly varied vocal styles she brings to
"Once in a Lifetime". The result is
an exciting work of precision, execution, interaction and solid
entertainment. |
