HandyDart Information
The Custom Transit System in British Columbia, called HandyDART, offers specialized transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities. It is available to anyone, regardless of age or income, who is unable to use the regular bus service without assistance.

Qualifing for a HandyCard
If you’re a resident with special needs, you may be eligible for a HandyCard. To be eligible, you must have a permanent physical or cognitive disability that prevents you from using the public transit system without assistance. Also, you must reside within the TransLink service region.

Your HandyCard entitles you to Concession fares on the Bus, SkyTrain, SeaBus, West Vancouver Transit and West Coast Express. An attendant who accompanies and assists a HandyCard holder is eligible to travel free.

HandyCard is not valid on HandyDART nor are Concession fares available. When you begin your transit trip on HandyDART, you will pay the regular HandyDART fare. If you wish to transfer to conventional transit, ask your HandyDART driver to give you a three-zone FareSaver ticket.

Applying for HandyCard
To obtain your HandyCard, please complete and sign the application form and have your family doctor (or senior official of a recognized social service or health agency) complete the verification portion.

Then mail it to us (at the address below), along with two recent "passport-style" photographs. The photos should be clear, face-front, head-and- shoulders photos, taken in photo booths at malls or photographic studios. Photos taken with your own camera are acceptable, provided the picture can be sized to 3.2 cm x 3.2 cm (1- 1/4" x 1-1/4)." In any case, the cost of obtaining these photographs is your responsibility.

Your non-transferable HandyCard with one photo attached will be mailed to you within 4 to 6 weeks after your application is received. Apply for Your Handy Card
